As the drum majors of "The Pride of West Virginia" we would like to be one of the first to welcome the new members to the WVU Band, and to welcome the veterans back for another season!
We are very excited to start the season off running! Both of us have great new ideas for the 2009 season to help improve marching, formations, and one of the most important things - becoming a family. For many of the new members, you are leaving your families and coming to Morgantown alone, however, 400 people are waiting to welcome you to their family. For the returning veterans, one of our focuses is the aspect of family, and we will need your help to make our band family stronger than before. "Families are like fudge - mostly sweet with a few nuts", is a quote that best describes us. We are a family, we may be a little crazy, but we are here for everyone at anytime for anything! A great family is not controlled by a certain few, but is created by equal involvement. We are looking forward to creating this new family bond, meeting the new members, rekindling great friendships with the vets, and reminding everyone exactly what "The Pride" is all about.
To close, we quote our Director of Bands Emeritus, Don Wilcox, with his words of wisdom to help the Pride strive for the highest: "Every note, every step, every person, every time."
Have a great rest of the summer and we will see you in August!
